A total of 1.1 million Venezuelans received humanitarian aid in the first four months of the year, through social programs implemented by 132 national and international non-governmental organizations, the United Nations Organization (UN).
This total of people, 58% women were benefited “for the humanitarian response” in Caracas and in the 23 states of the country, details the bimonthly report disseminated by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Among the population served are 176,000 members of indigenous communities, 28,000 people with disabilities and more than a thousand LGTBI people.
Humanitarian organizations implement a response plan in the country, with the objective of serving 5.1 million people, for which US$ 887 million (about 817 million euros) are required, of which they have received, so far , 71.9 million.
The main forms of assistance registered during the first four months were related to food security, health, as well as access to water and sanitation and hygiene measures.
Humanitarian aid reached 2.7 million people in 2023, representing 51.92% of the stated goal of reaching 5.2 million people with urgent needs.
