The head of the PP list for the European elections, Dolors Montserrathas announced that his party will promote a reform of the European arrest warrants to “speed up” their compliance and “prevent fugitives from justice from roaming freely”in reference to the leader of Junts, Carles Puigdemont.
At an event in Cádiz as part of the campaign for the next European elections, Dolors Montserrat, current spokesperson for the EPP, announced the impetus for this reform, along with other measures “to strengthen our democracy, our EU and its values.”
In addition to the reform of euro arrest warrants “to expedite arrests between countries of the Union“, to “continue to lead the defense of our rule of law against the infamous Amnesty Law” and to “always fight against foreign interference that wants to destabilize the Union, such as Putin and his connections with Puigdemont”, the PP also goes ” to demand the full independence and neutrality of our institutions, of the media such as RTVE, EFE, the CIS and the Prosecutor’s Office, which are being assaulted by (the President of the Government) Sánchez”.
It has also committed, within the measures to strengthening democracy, “to put an end once and for all to the glorification of terrorism and tributes to ETA members.” The candidate has asked that in the next elections on June 9 the vote be brought together for the PP because “it is a double vote.”
It is, he said, valid to “defend Cádiz, Andalusia and Spain in Europe with force” and also “to say enough is enough for Sánchez kneeling before a fugitive from Justice.” He has demanded that the President of the Government withdraw the Amnesty Law “and call elections now“because, in his opinion, “the legislature has collapsed“because “he does not even have the support of his partners” and Pedro Sánchez “only has smoke screens left” and “his agonizing desire for power.”
“The only law he is going to pass is the infamous Amnesty Law“, she insisted. “There is no need to wait for other elections to decide our future,” the candidate claimed. Dolors Montserrat has not shown support for the recognition of the state of Palestine that Spain will approve this week, along with Ireland and Norway, nor has she rejected the Israeli government’s accusations against the country for adopting this measure, releasing a video in which it mixes flamenco with Hamas or accusing the Government of “anti-Semitic incitement.”
Asked about the Israeli reactionthe popular candidate has indicated that “international politics is agreed upon and carried out from the European Union, from the unity of the 27 countries of the Union, as we have done with the war in Ukraine.”
“We cannot do what Sánchez is doing unilaterally“in the face of a conflict in which “both the people of Israel and the people of Palestine are suffering so much,” he stated. Therefore, “the first thing we have to ask for” is “the return of the hostages and a ceasefire.” , from the unity of the EU” and “not from the unilateral nature of a Prime Minister like Sánchez, who does it to cover up his shame in Spain, such as the corruption that stalks his closest environment, his Government or his party, or to cover up the fact that the Aminista Law is going to be approved”.
“The PP is going to work with the EU in the response to what is happening in the Middle East,” he added.
