While maintaining that the PP should not agree with the extreme right in Europe, Alberto Núñez Feijóo justifies his approach to the extreme right Giorgia Meloniwhom he refuses to define as such despite his xenophobic speech and contrary to the LGTBI communitywhich the Italian prime minister already embodies in her country’s legislation.

The leader of the PP, however, insists on disassociating Meloni from the European extreme right, asserting that “it is not homologable”For example, to the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán. This is what he defended this Monday on ‘Onda Cero’, after stating a few days ago that, in his opinion, Italian politics is not “homologous to other parties that are considered extreme right in Europe.”

“What I have said and I stand by it is that We should not agree with the extreme right in Europe and that Mrs. Meloni is defending the rule of law, has signed the European migration pact and declares itself pro-European“, argued Feijóo, during an interview in which he established a parallel with the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, and the PSOE.

“In the same way that perhaps Mr. Page is not comparable to the PSOE, at least because of what he says, another thing is because of what he does (…) I continue to say that Mrs. Meloni is not comparable to Mr. Orbán , for example,” the ‘popular’ leader has argued.

Thus, he has stressed that “Meloni voted in favor of the migration pact” while “Mr. Abascal’s MEPs voted against” and that, while the leader of Fratelli d’Italia is “pro-European”, “from what we see or “We listened to some leaders, Abascal’s party is not.”

“There are differences, because They are different parties that work in different countries“, insisted Feijóo, who stressed that another “big difference” is that “Meloni is the Government of Italy and Vox here is the third parliamentary force.”

Asked about his refusal to agree with the extreme right in Europe if it has already done so in Spain In both municipalities and autonomous communities, Feijóo has defended that they are fulfilling their electoral program and has diverted the topic towards the wife of the President of the Government, Begoña Gómez.
