Hamas claimed responsibility this Sunday for the missile attack on different points in central Israel allegedly launched from Rafah, in southern Gaza, according to Israeli media. The attack, which caused one minor injury, is the first by the Palestinian Islamist group against that part of the country in almost six months. The Magen David Adom emergency service reported that it treated a person who was slightly injured while running to a shelter, without clarifying the location of the impact.

In a statement, the armed wing of the Islamist organization, the Al Qasam brigades, has confirmed the launch of “a missile battery in response to Zionist massacres against civilians.” The air raid sirens have been heard in Tel Aviv and other nearby cities and followed by the explosions of the Iron Dome, the Israeli air defense system, intercepting the projectiles.

Emergency services reported that shrapnel has fallen in several placesin the city of Ranana, north of Tel Aviv, and also in the cities of Petah Tikva and Bnei Brak.
