After the Basque and Catalan elections comes a new electoral process, that of the 2024 European elections. calendar, as such, has already started running. In fact, during these days the town councils carry out the draws to select members of the polling stations. The draw, whose responsibility falls on the consistories, is carried out through a mathematical algorithm which randomly draws each of the components – a presidency and two members – and the corresponding substitutes from each polling station. The voters who decide vote by mail You can request the certificate of your registration in the Electoral Census corresponding through the Correos website, proving your identity through authentication and electronic signature, or in person at any postal office in Spain. Thus, Correos will deliver the applications received in the provincial delegations of the Electoral Census Office starting May 20, so that it is sent to the applicants with the necessary documentation so that they can exercise their vote. The deadline for depositing the vote by mail for the elections to the European Parliament will end on June 5, 2024. With all this, the deadlines for voting by mail would be as follows:

  • May 30, 2024: last day to request a vote by mail
  • May 20, 2024: they begin to send the documentation to vote by mail
  • June 5, 2024: last day to cast your vote by mail

How to vote from abroad

In the case of being abroad, citizens who want to vote will have to be registered in the Consular Registration Registry and in the Census of Absent Resident Voters (CERA) since January 30. In the case of a temporary stay, you can request to vote as a temporarily absent resident between April 16 and May 11. Following this request, the necessary documentation will be sent to the registered temporary address. The voter must send the vote by certified mail to the electoral table in Spain between May 14 and June 5.

How to vote in person

In the case of preferring to vote in person on June 9, 2024, the citizen will have to go to the polling station that belongs to them, according to the electoral roll.
