For his part, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken declined to respond to the claims, but indicated that Washington was not involved in any attack and was committed to working towards a “de-escalation” in the region.

“I’m not going to talk about that, except to say that the United States has not participated in any offensive operations,” he added.

Asked to describe the current relationship between the United States and Israel, Blinken noted that Israel makes its own decisions and that the United States is committed to its security.

“We are committed to helping Israel defend itself and to participate as necessary in its defense, as you saw just a few days ago.”Blinken said, referring to action by the United States and allies to help Israel repel the Iranian drone and missile attack over the weekend.

Tajani said all G7 members had shared information on Friday about what they knew about what had happened in Iran. He added that he had spoken by phone to the Italian embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran and confirmed that all Italians living in Isfahan were safe.

The group also warned Iran against shipping ballistic missiles and related technology to Russia.

Regarding the war in Gaza, the group called on Hamas to release the hostages and reminded Israel to respect international and humanitarian law.

Furthermore, the statement noted that the G7 opposes “to a large-scale military operation in Rafah that would have catastrophic consequences for the civilian population” and demanded that the aid entering the besieged enclave be increased.
