The United States says it “did not participate in any offensive operations”

USA “did not participate in any offensive operation,” said the North American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, this Friday, after the explosions that shook Iran and which American officials cited in the press attributed to an Israeli attack.”

“I am not going to talk about these events reported by the media (…) All I can say on our part and that of all the members of the G7 is that our objective is de-escalation,” he said in a conference press after a meeting of the G7 foreign ministers on the Italian island of Capri.

Several explosions shook central Iran this Friday, in what North American officials presented as an Israeli attack in retaliation for the drones and missiles fired by Tehran against Israel last Saturday.

The Iranian press agency Tasnim, citing “informed sources”, denied for its part that the country had suffered an attack “from abroad.”

G7 Foreign Ministers

The G7 foreign ministers on Friday asked “all parties” to “prevent a new escalation” in the Middle East after the explosions that shook Iran this Friday.

”In light of the April 19 attacks, we call on all parties to work to prevent a new escalation. The G7 will continue working in this direction,” stated the representatives of the seven great industrialized powers in a statement, at the end of a meeting on the Italian island of Capri.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, whose country chairs this political and economic forum this year, declared in a press conference that the agenda of the Friday morning meeting had been modified to include the explosions in Iran.

”The G7 is working to achieve a de-escalation,” he said, adding that “the United States was informed at the last minute” of the attacks. Iran “has reopened its airspace,” she said.
