The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóohas appointed Esteban González Pons as campaign director of the European elections, while maintaining the mystery of who will head the PP list in these elections, which will be held on June 9.
Sources consulted by laSexta confirm the appointment and announce that Pons will chair the campaign committee for these elections this Thursday.
Pons has almost a decade of experience (2014-2023) as an MEP, leaving the position to join Feijóo’s team in the 23J elections. Previously, he was a representative and senator. Pons has been in charge of leading the conversations on the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary, seeing himself with Félix Bolaños and Didier Reynders on three occasions.
Previously, there had been speculation that Pons would be the PP candidate, replacing Dolors Monserratwho could repeat her candidacy again after being the spokesperson for the ‘popular’ in the European Parliament.
