Who are Charlie and Abi? Who is extorting members of the British Parliament? That’s what everyone is wondering right now. United Kingdomafter 12 Westminster men were subjected to unwanted WhatsApp messages which, in several cases, included unsolicited nude photographs.
Some messages sent by someone who calls themselves Charlie or Abi, and who seemed to know them and have personal information about them. These messages generally followed a pattern: the sender claimed that he already knew his target and that the pair had flirted at a specific political event or in a Westminster bar.
This ‘sexting’ scandal has been triggered by William Wragg, 36 years olda Conservative MP who has admitted leaking phone numbers of other MPs to a person he met on the gay dating app, Grindr.
According to Wragg, the user who I was extorting him had compromising information about him: “He wouldn’t leave me alone. He asked me about companions, I gave him some numbers, not all. “I told him to stop, but he manipulated me and now I have hurt other people,” the Conservative MP tells The Times.
Wragg already has resigned from both positions in the House of Commons and in the last few hours he has also left the Tory party. But now we have to resolve the most important thing: Who is behind it?
Some conservative politicians point out that It could be a foreign state, such as Russia or China, although government sources assure that there is no evidence and that this case seems to have the hallmarks of a “phishing” attempt, in which personalized messages are sent to compromise victims and obtain personal information.
