Fentanyl has become one of the thorniest issues between the United States and China. In fact, it has been one of the key points between Joe Biden and Xi Jinping’s conversation.
Washington wants Beijing to do more to prevent the export of the chemicals used to make this powerful opioid that kills 200 people every day in the United States. And the US accuses China of manufacturing the components of this powerful and cheap drug.
These raw materials that the Asian country would manufacture would be sent to the cartels in Mexico. There, drug traffickers manufacture fentanyl, known as the zombie drug, in clandestine workshops.
These same cartels are responsible for spreading it throughout the United States. Alarm bells have gone off in the country because it is already the first public health problem for Washington.
Although Mexico and China deny being involved, the United States Department of Justice points fingers at them. There are four Chinese companies and eight individuals accused of using false cargo labels to ship their products to Mexico.
