However, in the first half, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes restored equality, and in the second half, Garnacho scored a double and brought the Mancunians ahead. In stoppage time, Palmer scored twice more to give Chelsea victory.
Manchester United scored 48 points and is in sixth place in the championship. Chelsea has 43 points and is in 10th position.
Manchester United will play Liverpool in the next round on April 7. Chelsea will play Sheffield United away on the same day.
