The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized Prenosis software as the first artificial intelligence (AI) tool that can diagnose sepsis or septicaemia, an infection also known as blood poisoning, the health technology company Prenosis announced this Wednesday.

The tool of Prenosiscall Sepsis ImmunoScoreuses 22 different parameters such as temperature, heart rate and cell count to help doctors assess a patient’s risk of sepsis.

Leveraging a combination of biomarkers and clinical data through AI, Sepsis ImmunoScore assists in the assessment of the risk of presence or progression of sepsis within 24 hours of patient evaluation in the emergency room or hospital“, indicates the company in a statement.
