Gdynia and Kosakowo are losing the court battle. The EU court dismissed the complaint regarding the airport

The court battle in this case has been going on for over six years. In 2014, it ordered the return of public aid received by the Gdynia-Kosakowo Airport company from the local government – from the city and commune of Kosakowo. At that time, it was almost PLN 92 million. The Commission found that the financing of the conversion of a military airport into a civil one was unlawful support and unjustified competition for the airport in Gdañsk, which served the entire agglomeration.

Gdynia-Kosakowo airport as a point of contention with the EU

The decision of the European Commission was appealed against to the General Court of the European Union, which in 2017 revoked the Commission’s decision on procedural grounds. Three years later in Luxembourg, he quashed the judgment of an EU court and remitted the case to him for consideration. Complaints are established by the commune of Kosakowo and Gdynia together with Gdynia Kosakowo Airport. Now the court has dismissed the complaint.

Millions for the lawsuit. But there is still a cancellation option
