The government of the Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvaannounced this Tuesday incentive measures for automotive sectionfor the development of vehicles with greater “energy efficiency” and framed in the green economy.
“It is the starting point to regulate the process towards decarbonization, but also to increase competitiveness and economic activity, with the generation of employment and income,” declared the vice president and minister of Industry and Commerce, Geraldo Alckmin, along with Lula and dozens of businessmen in the sector.
At the ceremony, initiatives were presented for the promotion of clean energy and the decarbonization of the vehicle fleet, through financial credits or tax incentives for a total value of 19,000 million reais (US$ 3,890 million).
These benefits will be exclusively for companies that promote the use of clean energy in the Brazilian automotive sector, which together foresees investments of 117,000 million reais (US$ 23,870 million) until 2028.
They will also be aimed at parts manufacturers and the entire logistics and production chain linked to the automotive sector.
Márcio Lima, president of the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), reaffirmed the sector’s intention to even increase the planned investments and guaranteed the full support of companies for the energy transition that “the world demands.”
