China assures that there will be opportunities for companies from all over the world thanks to its development

China will create “new opportunities for companies around the world” thanks to its pursuit of “high-quality” development, said this Monday Lu Hao, president of the China Development Forum, which brought together 400 leaders of international companies and organizations, as well as of academics and officials.

Lu noted during a speech to close the forum that the Chinese economy has started the year “solidly” and that the Government has implemented “measures to maintain stable growth,” reports the state agency Xinhua.

According to the official, China’s urbanization still has “huge potential for improvement,” adding that “the digital transformation and ecological nature of the country is going to create new spaces for demand.”

He also noted that “China’s development will bring more opportunities for international cooperation, as it will inject more vitality and certainties into the world economy.”

The forum, held on Sunday and today in Beijing, focused on the Asian country’s growth prospects, the carbon neutralitydigital transformation and new forms of consumption.

The president of the World Bank Group, Ajay Banga, assured during his speech that China “has faced challenges before and has overcome them.”

“The extraordinary journey of this country, China, is a testament to what is possible,” he said, quoted by Xinhua.

Also speaking was Masatsugu Asakawa, president of the Asian Development Bank, who was optimistic about the country’s economic future: “We see a stable growth trajectory for China in 2024, within the announced growth range of around 5% for this year.”

On Sunday, Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang opened the forum with a speech in which he assured that his country will implement measures to eliminate the barriers faced by foreign companies.

In his speech, the prime minister highlighted the potential to attract foreign investment from sectors such as urban development, the “green economy” and industrial modernization and insisted that the Chinese Government will create greater opportunities for foreign capital through macroeconomic policies.

The Executive that presides Xi Jinpinghe asserted, is studying “carefully” some of the problems that foreign companies operating in China have repeatedly complained about, such as market access barriers or the cross-border flow of information and data.

The China Development Forum is one of the few scenarios in which the heads of foreign companies can have direct contact with the leadership of the Asian country and is held this year in a context of slowdown for the world’s second largest economy, which is not has recovered at the expected rate from the consequences of remaining tightly closed for three years due to the pandemic.

Among the business leaders present at the forum this year are Apple CEO Tim Cook and those from US manufacturers of chips Qualcomm and Micron.

Within the framework of this event, the Chinese Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao, met with both Cook and representatives of several technology, financial and pharmaceutical firms, the aforementioned department reported.
