Islamic State claims responsibility for shooting at concert hall outside Moscow

The jihadist group Islamic State claimed this Friday the shooting in a concert hall in a shopping center on the outskirts of Moscowwhich has caused at least 40 deaths and 100 injuries, according to the Amaq agency, the organization’s propaganda organ.

“Islamic State fighters attacked a large gathering of Christians in the city of Krasnogorsk, on the outskirts of the Russian capital, Moscow, killing and wounding hundreds of people and causing widespread destruction there before retreating to their bases. in a safe way”, Amaq reported on his Telegram channel.

At least 40 dead and a hundred wounded left a shooting at the Crocus City Hall concert center near Moscow, reported the state news agency TASS, citing the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) as a source.

According to the RIA agency, at least three attackers dressed in military uniforms opened fire at the concert venue. The Islamic State jihadist group claimed responsibility for the attack. Previously, senior Russian security official and former president Dmitri Medvedev had targeted Ukraine; However, the Ukrainian Government assured that it “has nothing to do” with the attack.

According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, operations are underway to “rescue people from the roof of the building using lifting equipment.” They have managed to evacuate a hundred people from the concert hall.

The regional governor, Andrei Vorobyov, declared that more than 70 ambulances were at the scene. According to Interfax, the Russian National Guard is searching for the perpetrators of the attack.

Russian authorities have reinforced security measures at Moscow airports and train stations. Additionally, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that all major sporting, cultural and public events this weekend in the city will be cancelled.
