The president-elect of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, thanked her compatriots on Monday who voted for her in the general elections on November 28 to be the new ruler of their country.

Castro, 62, will succeed Juan Orlando Hernández, of the National Party, who has been in power for three consecutive terms, the first, from 2010 to 2014, at the helm of Porfirio Lobo.
