As reported by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), in the accumulated period from January to October of this year, this sector increased by 17.58%.
Among the factors that drove the development of the sector were the execution of engineering and architecture consultancies, and geological, environmental and topographic consultancies; the restart of paralyzed works, approved appraisals, expansion of offices, shops, galleries; business consulting in advertising media, advertising and marketing services, and market research studies.
In detail, the INEI announced that professional, scientific and technical activities increased by 4.38% as a result of the dynamism shown by the architecture and engineering activities, due to the development and execution of new projects, expansion of works and restart of operations.
Likewise, the activity of technical tests and analysis grew due to the demand for analysis of samples received and processed; as well as legal activities, due to the increase in notarial services and legal processes in civil, labor and criminal matters. Meanwhile, the activities of administrative services and Support showed an increase of 4.11% due to the rental and operating leasing activities of other types of machinery, for the execution of mining projects, earthworks, progress of construction and infrastructure works. Similarly, the rental and operating leasing of motor vehicles grew, due to the demand for vehicles for the transfer of passengers and heavy cargo vehicles.
Among the activities that showed dynamism, the administrative offices and collection agencies stood out; as well as the activities of temporary work agencies, due to the greater request for temporary personnel. On the contrary, private security and cleaning activities decreased, due to the termination of contracts and reduction of jobs in the public and private sectors.
Travel and tourism agencies
In October of this year, travel agencies and tour operators registered a growth of 119.64%, driven by travel agencies, due to the higher demand for air tickets and tourist packages by holiday season, long holidays, advance of the preventive vaccination against covid-19.
