A 12 year old boy was arrested this Sunday in connection with a mass shooting threat at a high school in Massachusetts (USA) that would occur this Monday, according to the police.
The Norwood Police Department arrested the student this Sunday after an investigation that began last Friday, when officers received a alert about a possible shooting directed at a high school in the city, located southwest of Boston.
The authorities received a screenshot of a text message shared with a group of students warning about a shooting at Coakley School. The capture did not have the complete message and, after investigations, the detectives discovered that the alleged shooting would happen this monday.
The message was shared from an unknown number with a group of school students, who were interrogated. Thus, the detectives were able to identify the 12-year-old boy as a suspect in making the threat. The minor had gone on a trip with his family out of the city and returned this Sunday to be arrested. According to the police, confessedin the presence of his family and his mobile phone was confiscated.
Nevertheless, no firearms were found in the student’s house, according to the Police, who have not specified the charges that the minor will face.
Already last Friday, the Norwood Police Department reported through its social networks that it had been alerted of “non-specific threats” against Coakley Middle School and Norwood High School, but assured that the threats were not credible. However, it indicated that it had staffed both centers with additional officers to “help ensure security” and that it was continuing to investigate the matter. Later on Saturday, the police department insisted that the threat was not credible.
