Gas stations throughout New Zealand suffered outages at self-service pumps this Thursday as a result of a computer error to execute payments, which did not recognize the date of February 29, several affected companies reported.
“We are aware of a national technical problem that is affecting motorists of all types of fuel, where they cannot pay at some of the terminals“, the company Gull, one of the main companies in the oceanic country along with the also affected Z Energy and Allied Petroleum, noted on its social networks.
As a result of these setbacks, linked to the fact that the programs to execute payments did not recognize the leap year, the companies asked users to go to service stations with staff.
“This means customers must pay in store, as we are unable to process payment transactions at the pump. Payment on our automated sites is not available”, noted Z Energy.
About 10 hours after the problems were detected, the companies confirmed that everything had been resolved and that they were operating normally again.
