The Kremlin is unfazed by the new package of anti-Russian sanctions

The new package of sanctions against Russiapresented last week by USA and the European Unioncontains nothing new, the Kremlin stated today.

“Nothing fundamentally new was announced and it is unlikely that those imposing the sanctions will be able to invent something fundamentally new without damaging their own economy,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitri Peskov said in his daily telephone briefing.

According to Peskov, the European economy and the interests of American companies are indirectly affected by anti-Russian sanctions.

At the same time, he added that the Russian economy has demonstrated its stability and “continues its development.”

USA announced on Friday a large package of half a thousand sanctions against Russia, which includes its financial and military sectors, in retaliation for the war in Ukraine and the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, for which Washington blames the Russian president. Vladimir Putin.

Washington’s sanctions were unveiled after the EU approved its 13th round of restrictions against Russia on the eve of the second anniversary of the war, which fell on February 24.

Since the start of the Russian war campaign, this country’s economy has been hit by several rounds of sanctions, both from the US and the Twenty-Seven.

Among the sanctions imposed by the United States, actions to isolate oligarchs close to Putin stand out; sanctions against the energy sector; as well as the exclusion of Russian banks from the SWIFT international interbank communication system, which has further isolated the Russian economy from the international financial system.
