The shipping company Carnivalbased in Miami, announced this Thursday an investment of US$ 100 million for the extension of the Celebraton Key pier, in the Bahamaswhich will double the passenger arrival capacity.
The expansion includes four docks for the next two years with the capacity to accommodate up to four Excel class ships, the largest in Carnival.
Overall, the new pier is projected to serve nearly four million passengers annually by 2028, the company said in a statement.
“As befits our plans for Grand Bahama Island, our vision for Celebration Key is quite grand and we are already thinking about the next phase of expansion and development,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.
Construction allows growth plans to be implemented and itineraries to be built with certainty, he added.
