The Minister of Petroleum VenezuelaPedro Rafael Tellechea, and his counterpart from Energy and Mines of Algeria, Mohamed Arkab, met this Monday in Caracas to study business opportunities in gas and technology matters.
Through X, the state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) explained that, during the meeting, “Joint business opportunities were analyzed in the gas area, its use as a transition fuel to reduce environmental impact and its application as a raw material in the petrochemical industry.”
“Opportunities for technological exchange and academic training in energy matters were also visualized” and “The preparations for the VII Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GCEF) to be held soon were reviewed” in Algeria, the company continued on the social network.
In a press release, PDVSA indicated that officials evaluated “the wide range of cooperation opportunities to develop common projects” and so “strengthen relations of cooperation and brotherhood.”
Last September, President Nicolás Maduro visited Algeria, where he held a meeting with the then Prime Minister of the African country, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, in which they announced the start of flights between Caracas and Algiers, inaugurated in January of this year.
The Chavista leader traveled to Algiers in June 2022, when he invited his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to make an official visit to Caracas during this year, the date of which is still unknown.
During that same month, both Governments signed a dozen agreements in Caracas that, in addition to the air sector, include cooperation in energy matters.
