Evo Morales: prohibition of entry to Peru is a judicialized political action

This Sunday the former president of Bolivia Evo Morales (2006-2019) indicated that the prohibition of entry to Peruwhich was ratified by the Justice of that country, is a “political” action that was “judicialized.”

”(They say that) Evo does not have entry into Peru, as if Evo were desperate to enter Peru. “I have nothing to do in Peru,” Morales stated in his radio program that is broadcast on the Kawsachun Coca station.

It should be remembered that Morales maintained an active presence in Peru in the southern regions of the country during the Government of Pedro Castillo (2021-2020), with the aim of encouraging his Runasur project, an international platform for social and indigenous movements.

The former Bolivian ruler defined as “a political action, but judicialized” the decision made this week by a court in Lima and that ratified the ban on his entry to Peru, thus revoking the protection granted to a habeas corpus presented by the former president’s legal defense. .

Morales pointed out that the Peruvian Government showed a similar position against the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, and that of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, making it an “international” issue.

”The three of us are declared persona non grata for defending human rights, for defending democracy (in Peru). “We have the obligation to express what we feel, what we think, which is not an intervention,” Indian.

Morales criticizes Dina Boluarte

The former president of Bolivia said he was “convinced” that in Peru “the United States governs through the Armed Forces.”

”The poor president (Dina Boluarte), it hurts me, she must be like an official, like someone who (only) takes care of the Palace of Peru”said.

“How is it possible! More than 70 gunshot deaths are reported (in Peru) and they consolidate her (Boluarte) as president; she should be in jail with such a massacre,” Morales added.

The Peruvian president faces an investigation for the alleged commission of the crimes of genocide, qualified homicide and abuse of authority, following the death of 77 people in the mobilizations, 49 of them in direct confrontations with the security forces.

A few days ago, the Peruvian Justice ratified the order preventing Morales from entering that country, despite the fact that a court revoked a previous decision by issuing a habeas corpus appeal with which the immigration alert against him was lifted. the former Bolivian president.

In January 2023, Peruvian authorities banned Evo Morales and eight other Bolivians from entering the country.

The decision was made in the midst of social protests against the Government of Dina Boluarte, when the entry into Peru of several Bolivian citizens was detected to “carry out activities of a political nature”, which affected national security and internal order.

In November 2023, a Constitutional Court in Lima declared the habeas corpus presented in favor of Morales partially founded, which is why it ordered the immigration alert against him to be annulled, but now the appeal was declared inadmissible.
