More than 5 thousand procedures of the security forces were carried out. The most common drugs seized are cocaine and marijuana.
The Venezuelan authorities have seized, so far in 2021, 51 tons of different circulating drugs illegal in the country in 5,334 security procedures, reported this Saturday the national anti-drug superintendent, Richard López Vargas.
“It is an important number of 51 tons that were seized in 5,334 procedures for security personnel “, highlighted López during the 2021 Citizen Security Expo, according to a press release from the Venezuelan state television channel (VTV).
The official assured that it is the highest seizure figure registered by the authorities of the Caribbean country in the last 10 years.
It was in 2011 when this figure was surpassed, which today represents the largest seizure in the last 10 years.
Lopez asserted, according to the press release.
On December 5, the Venezuelan authorities reported the seizure of 1,212 kilos of drugs, including marijuana and cocaine, in an area of the central state of Carabobo.
In a press release published by VTV, López Vargas explained that in this procedure the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB, Militarized Police) seized 2,158 ‘panelas’ (blocks) of marijuana weighing 1,101 kilos and another 100 of cocaine weighing 111 kilos, inside a truck that was inspected at a checkpoint called ‘El Naipe’ in the Libertador de Carabobo municipality.
This year Ecuador will surpass its own drug seizure ‘record’; What is done with all the confiscated?
On October 23, the superintendent indicated, in another operation of this type in the border state of Zulia, that up to that date 4,324 procedures had been carried out in which 47 tons of drugs were seized.
“We have to date a highly positive balance that exceeds 30% of seizures in 2020″ He stated at the time. (I)
