The British King Charles III thanked this Saturday “with all his heart” for the numerous messages of support and “good wishes” that he has received from the population in recent days, after Buckingham Palace informed of his cancer diagnosis.

“As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, those kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement“wrote the head of state in a message he released to the media, to which he added: “It is equally encouraging to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shed light on the work of all those organizations supporting cancer patients and their families across the UK and around the world.

The admiration for that “tireless care and dedication is even greater as a result of my own personal experience,” the monarch stressed in the message, signed as ‘Carlos R’ (Carlos Rey in Latin).

His eldest son, Prince William, heir to the British crown, has had to assume some of the functions officials of his father, who remains at the Sandringham country residence, in the east of England, while undergoing cancer treatment, of which no details have been provided.

The king’s illness was recently diagnosed while he was undergoing surgery for a benign enlarged prostate. The monarch, however, continues to attend functions State-specific, such as law signings or weekly telephone contacts with the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.
