The Argentine Government celebrated this Friday the “historic day” that marked the favorable vote of the Law Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines, known as the ‘omnibus law’, which was generally approved pending its approval. also its articles.
In a message published on his X social network account, the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, described as “historic day for Argentina” this Friday, since, in his opinion, the country will once again be “prosperous” based on the reforms that the Executive will implement if the law is approved in its entirety, after its subsequent passage through the Senate.
Also the head of Security, Patricia Bullrich, congratulated the deputies “who took this step for the well-being of Argentines”, because, he stated, from now on, there will be “more investment, more work, more freedom”.
“The Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines is a tool to get out of the decadence of decades“Bullrich also wrote on his X account.

Both Caputo and Bullrich were part of the administration of former center-right president Mauricio Macri (2015-2019) and are now part of the libertarian economist’s cabinet.
Milei himself, who had already issued an institutional message through the official account of his Office, limited himself to brandishing the motto that has made him internationally known, “LONG LIVE LIBERTAD CARAJO (sic)”, which he published on X accompanied by the photo in which the parliamentary precinct and the panel with the votes could be seen.
The chancellor, Diana Mondino, limited herself to replicating the message published by the president.
The ‘omnibus law’, the star project of Javier Milei’s Executive, was generally approved this Friday in the Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine Congress by 144 in favor and 109 against.
At the end of the third session of debate on this bill, the Lower House generally approved the majority opinion that came out of the work in the committees, although on Tuesday the articles in particular will have to be voted on, which were reduced to 382, slightly more half of what the original text had (664).

The session was called for next Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. local time (5:00 p.m. GMT).
After the eventual approval of the articles, the ‘omnibus law’ would go to the Senate for review in the Upper House.
Milei’s party, La Libertad Avanza (ultra-right), which only has 38 deputies, received the support of Propuesta Republicana (Pro, center-right) – the formation of former Argentine president Mauricio Macri -, the Radical Civic Union (UCR, center), Innovation Federal and 18 of the 22 members of We Make the Federal Coalition.
The Peronist Union for the Homeland bloc, the left, two deputies from the UCR and four from provincial formations voted against the project.
