This Tuesday, Mexico admitted a request for a review from the United States on collective rights in the company Atento Servicios, a call center whose clients include BBVA México in the city of Pachuca, in the center of the country.
The review will occur under the Rapid Response Labor Mechanism (MLRR) of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC).
In a statement, the Government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Economy, informed the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) of the admission of the review request received on January 19.
This, regarding “to an alleged denial of rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining in the company Atento Servicios, located in Pachuca, Hidalgo”.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) has a period of 45 days to conduct “an internal review to determine the existence or not of a denial of rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining in the company,” counted from from the date the request was received, according to the bulletin.
Just on January 22, Mexico and the United States closed the case regarding denial of rights at the Autoliv Steering Wheels Mexico automotive plant, located in El Marqués, Querétaro, center of the country, also under the MLRR of the T-MEC.
Meanwhile, on December 22, 2023, Mexico admitted another request from the United States to review an alleged denial of labor rights at the company Fujikura Automotive México, located in the city of Piedras Negras, on the border with Texas.
