The Republican senator Marco Rubio announced this Sunday his support for the presidential candidacy of the former president donald trump in his party’s primaries by pointing out the need to “extraordinary actions” against the Government of Joe Biden.
The support of the Cuban-American for the former president (2017-2021) is another blow to the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, who is also seeking the presidential candidacy, after the other senator from that state, Rick Scott, showed his support for Trump last November .
Rubio pointed out on the social network X (formerly Twitter) that Trump’s actions are necessary to “fix the mess” from the country.
He stressed that during Trump’s presidency he achieved important policies as a senator, such as harsh sanctions on the Cuban and Venezuelan regime because “We had a President who did not give in to special interests.”
“I support Trump because that type of leadership is the only way to achieve the extraordinary actions necessary to solve the disaster that Biden has created,” he emphasized.
In the 2016 primaries, Rubio ran against Trump, who at the time nicknamed him “Little Marco” (Little Marco).
Rubio’s endorsement comes one day before the Iowa caucuses, in which Trump is the favorite against DeSantis and former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley.
Similarly, the governor of North Dakota, Doug Burgum, also announced today his support for Trump for the presidential election.
