The new foreign minister FranceStéphane Séjourné, assured today in kyiv in his first official trip after his appointment last Thursday, that his country is determined to strengthen the capacity of Ukraine to manufacture weapons in its own territory, in addition to continuing to supply it with weapons.
”We are determined to jointly strengthen the capacity of Ukraine to produce weapons on their own territory and we are ready to help them in this area,” he declared during a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmitro Kuleba, quoted by Ukrainian media.
Séjourné stated that “France will remain at Ukraine’s side for as long as necessary” and added that “this determination has not changed” and will be translated into all areas of support to the Ukrainian armed forces, such as the supply of weapons systems, ammunition, means of defense anti-aircraft and artillery.
The minister also recalled the visit to Ukraine of the French Defense Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, with French companies in the sector, and indicated that efforts will continue to improve the legal framework “so that this cooperation can develop even better.”
”We appreciate the full support of France to Ukraine, in particular the reinforcement of our air defense. Today we talked about additional deliveries of systems and missiles to protect the Ukrainian sky, as well as the supply of drones to Ukraine,” Kuleba declared, for his part.

On the other hand, Kuleba pointed out that with Séjourné they had coordinated their positions ahead of the summit of the NATO in Washington and the steps to follow to start Ukraine’s accession negotiations with the EU.
“We agree that France will support not only the integration of Ukraine in the EU, but also the fulfillment of specific deadlines on this path,” he stressed.
Kuleba and Séjourné also addressed other issues with frozen Russian assets and the creation of a special court for crimes of Russian aggression.
