Russia will “intensify” its attacks against military targets in Ukraine in retaliation for the bombing carried out by the Ukrainian army against the Russian city of Belgorod this weekend, he announced Vladimir Putin.
“We will intensify the attacks, no crime against civilians will go unpunished, that is for sure”declared the Russian president during a visit to a military hospital, specifying that these attacks will be carried out “against military installations.”
“We use precision weapons to attack decision-making centers, places where soldiers and mercenaries gather, and other centers of this type, especially military installations”Putin explained.
The Russian leader described “terrorist act” the bombing that left at least 24 dead and more than 100 injured on Saturday in the Russian city of Belgorod, on the border with Ukraine.
It is recalled that what happened in Belgorod occurred after a wave of Russian bombings against Ukrainian cities last Friday, which left about 40 dead.
Putin accuses Ukraine
Putin accused Ukrainian forces of attacking the “center of the city, where people walk before New Year’s Eve.”
But he also highlighted that “Ukraine is not an enemy” himself, and accused the West of using the kyiv authorities to “fix your own problems” with Russia.
The Russian president also considered that Moscow’s forces now have a “strategic initiative” on the front in Ukraine, where soldiers advance further every day after the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
