He President of Argentina, Javier Milei, signed this Tuesday the decree that paralyzes the renewal of all those public workers who were hired less than a year ago, which according to some sources would be about 7,000.
This was one of the measures announced at the beginning of the month within of the ‘chainsaw plan’ with which the far-right aims to reduce public spending. The Government thus leaves without extending all the contracts that expire on December 31, while it prepares an audit to know the number of state workers.
The measure will affect those workers in the central administration of the Government and the decentralized organizations of the State, as well as those public companies and corporations with a state majority, such as the energy company. Fiscal Oilfields (YPF).
Waiting for the Government and unions offer the number of contracts that have been affected, sources consulted by the Argentine newspaper ‘ClarÃn’ maintain that there would be around 7,000. There are some exceptions, such as those for people with some type of disabilityor those who are within the quotas set by the Gender Identity Law, as well as those who need to remain in positions due to the impossibility of keeping them vacant.
The unions have already announced that the protests will continue and emphasize the need to advance in a great national strike and the first total stoppage of those activities related to companies and public entities.
