The health authorities of Gibraltar have once again establish the use of masks in healthcare buildings as mandatory and in nursing homes, due to the “serious increase” in the number of covid infections and other respiratory infections.

As reported by sources from the Gibraltar Executive in a statement, the measure responds to the increase in the number of patients with covid, flu and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (VSR), although they have indicated that “we constantly monitor infections and will reduce the use of the mask as soon as it is safe and prudent.”

The health authorities of the Rock They will deliver the masks at the entrance of the health buildingsrequiring users to wear it when entering, in order to “protect patients and staff.”

Likewise, they have asked the population not to visit any patient or nursing home user if they have flu symptoms. The Gibraltarian Government has stressed that this is a “preventive measure to guarantee the safety of our patients, particularly our elderly and vulnerable people” although they have admitted that it responds to a “serious increase” in the number of infections.
