He French writer Frédéric Beigbeder is being investigated for an alleged “rape” of a young woman. As confirmed by the prosecutor of Pau, in the south of the country, Rodolphe Jarry to the French newspaper Libération, the 58-year-old writer known for novels such as ‘A French Novel’ or ‘Love Lasts Three Years’ has been called to testify in Pau.

The writer who has lived with his family for years in the Basque Country, as reported by this same medium, was summoned to testify this Tuesday, December 12 at 9:00 a.m. in the framework of a preliminary investigation for this alleged violation and remains in police custody.

During this summer of 2023, a young woman filed a complaint against the writer for this reason. She alleged, according to this medium, that she had had a consensual sexual relationship with him, however, there was another non-consensual relationship, in this case.

The writer, who has also worked as a screenwriter, literary critic and television commentator, has been the subject of attention in the past for his controversial opinions on topics such as prostitution or drugs.
