Iñaki Gutiérrez, the young man behind the Milei phenomenon

With 1.6 million followers on Tik Tok, Javier Milei He communicated in many of his videos with a question and answer format, managing to generate closeness among users, especially the youngest ones. The brain behind the entire digital campaign is Iñaki Gutiérrez, who at only 22 years old is the community manager of the president-elect of Argentina.

Iñaki Gutiérrez met Milei through his girlfriend. “Eugenia had contact because she had chatted with him in Santa Fe, at the presentation of a book. I told her that I thought Milei had to have a Tik Tok, I thought it would be very useful for her. Later I met with Javier, I asked him about it and he told me to do it. Since then we have worked together,” stated Gutiérrez, for Diario Clarín.

In addition to Tik Tok, Gutiérrez makes cuts for posts on Instagram, textual quotes on Twitter and Facebook.

The young man publicly revealed that he does not charge money to create the content, since he has a great passion for political communication and considers that social networks are free tools that reach millions of people.

Interest in the opposition

A law student at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and economics at the UB (University of Barcelona), Gutiérrez was already emerging as a political reference among the “anti-Kirchnerist” youth. He became known after Alberto Fernández’s victory in 2019, when he published a video in which he said that there was no need to “lower your arms” because “41% of people voted for Kirchnerism not to return.” The video went viral and many people frustrated with the Government began to follow and support it.

In 2020, Mauricio Macri contacted him to congratulate him for the work he had been doing on social networks and called him to a meeting with Patricia Bullrich to support his campaign. During the quarantine, Gutiérrez promoted outdoor marches to demand that the economy be reactivated and is currently a spokesperson for the youth of the La Libertad Avanza party.

In his interviews he has commented that he considers that all spaces need young faces: the Left, the right and the center since the fact that people get into politics at 40 and begin to have a predominant role at 60 means that young people are never heard. He emphasizes that he does not fight for the country that he wants to leave to his children but for the country that he wants to live in today.
