There is a decision! The European Commission has approved billions of euros for Poland. This is an advance payment from KPO

The European Commission approved Poland’s application to increase the National Reconstruction Plan. This means that EUR 5 billion will flow to our country. When exactly will the money reach Poland?

EUR 5 billion as part of the advance payment from KPO funds is to be allocated to the energy transformation, including moving away from fossil fuels from Russia. This includes: o support for electricity transmission networks, renewable energy sources, energy storage, low- and zero-emission buses and offshore wind farms. Today’s decision of the European Commission on this matter is to be confirmed on December 8 by the finance ministers of the European Union countries.

EUR 5 billion for Poland

The European Commission approved Poland’s application to increase the National Reconstruction Plan, it reports. These are additional loans worth EUR 23 billion. We can receive 20% of this amount, i.e. EUR 5 billion.

In the EC system it is already marked that it has been ‘accepted’. At 1 p.m., the commissioners of the College of the European Commission will meet here, and then all the decisions that have been taken will be officially confirmed.

When will the money reach Poland? This will happen after signing the technical documents, then the first advance installments can be paid in January 2024.

Super milestones do not apply to advance payments

An application in this matter was submitted by the government of Mateusz Morawiecki in August. EUR 5 billion, i.e. over PLN 22 billion, is money under the program. Importantly, advance payments do not apply to super milestones included in the main KPO agreement, which amount to a total of EUR 34 billion.

And this will be a real challenge for the government of Donald Tusk, who promised during the election campaign that some of the money from the KPO would eventually go to Poland. At the end of October, the PO leader went to Brussels, where he talked with the head of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen, about KPO centers. He explained, among other things, that laws would not be enough to unlock the money, but actual moves prepared by his future government.
