Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that his country does not intend to conquer, occupy or govern Gaza after his war against Hamas. Some words that clash with his recent statements, in which he went so far as to affirm that that Israel would not leave Gaza and assume “security” once the conflict ends.
Now, Netanyahu lowers these statements that were disapproved by the United States, Israel’s main ally. Of course, the president insists that They will need a “credible force” to enter the Palestinian enclave if necessary to prevent the emergence of militant threats.
“We do not intend to conquer Gaza, we do not intend to occupy Gaza and we do not intend to govern Gaza,” Netanyahu stressed in statements to the American television network ‘Fox News’.
But he adds that they will have to do what is necessary to prevent an attack like the one on October 7 from happening again: “So we have to have a credible force that, if necessary, enters Gaza and kills the murderers. Because that is what that will prevent the resurgence of a Hamas-like entity.”
Washington had warned thatwould oppose the Israeli occupationpost-war Gaza, where Israel has launched a bombing campaign to destroy Hamas leaders in the enclave after the militants devastated communities in southern Israel on October 7.
