A thousand people still remain in the center on the Belarusian-Polish border

About 1,000 migrants, including 150 minors, have been staying for more than a month in the Bruzgui industrial warehouse near the border Belarusian-Polish, they told Efe today in the Belarusian office of the Red Cross.

“Currently the logistics center accommodates about 1,000 people, including 150 children,” said a spokesman for the NGO.

A vaccination point and a field kitchen were set up in the industrial warehouse, he added.

“Since November 30, the center also has a medical post open 24 hours a day,” said the Red Cross, which provides humanitarian aid to migrants.

NGO employees and volunteers bring food and basic necessities to the Bruzgui center twice a day.

Other international organizations, including the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, UNICEF, and the World Health Organization, also participate in collecting aid for migrants.

“The deadlines for the solution of the situation are not clear,” explained in the Belarusian Red Cross the need to continue providing aid to migrants.

Around 2,000 immigrants from the Middle East arrived on November 8 on the Belarusian side of the border with Poland, from where they intended to enter the European Union, mainly in Germany.

After a week of tension with the Polish border guards, on 16 November they were transferred by the Belarusian authorities to an industrial warehouse near the border that has served as a reception center ever since.
