Former striker Samuel Eto’o was elected president of the Cameroon Football Federation, Fecafoot announced this Saturday. the idol of Barcelona defeated outgoing president Seidou Mbombo Njoya, elected in 2018, but whose election, contested by several Cameroon players, was annulled in mid-January by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS).

The former player was elected with 43 votes, ahead of Seidou, who got 31.
During the presentation of his candidacy on 17 November, Eto’o guaranteed that he would be the next president of the Cameroon Football Federation “despite the pitfalls”.
In 2018, he had supported Seidou Mbombo Njoya’s candidacy, but today he expresses his “disappointment”. The promises made three years ago by the outgoing president “seemed to me worthy of interest for the future of our country”, he justified.
Cameroon will host the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations from 9 January to 7 February 2022.
