The Chancellery Peru condemned the attacks by the Peruvian Defense Forces Israel against the Jabalia refugee camp, in northern Gaza, which caused hundreds of deaths, and expressed its deep concern about the serious worsening of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
Through a statement, he noted that Peru condemns and will condemn violence wherever it comes from.
It specifies that, since the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel, which unleashed a spiral of violence and a worsening of the conflict in the Middle East, with numerous civilian deaths and injuries, Peru has been closely monitoring the security situation and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the region.
“Peru remembers that, as the Secretary General of the United Nations has stated, the right to self-defense must be given in compliance with international law, including international humanitarian law, and under the principles of distinction, necessity, proportionality and precaution”he indicates.
Therefore, the statement adds, ronce again urgently calls for respect for international law, in particular international humanitarian law and international human rights law, to ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel, everywhere, without distinction of creed or nationality.
After ratify its condemnation of Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel, Peru reaffirmed its support for the resolution approved at the 10th emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly.

That resolution calls for the declaration of an immediate, lasting and sustained humanitarian truce that leads to the cessation of hostilities; that immediate, full, sustained, safe humanitarian access be provided to the area, and that all civilians held illegally captive be immediately and unconditionally released, demanding their safety, well-being and humane treatment in accordance with international law.
“Peru, guided by its commitment to multilateralism, international law and the peaceful resolution of disputes, will continue to advocate for the solution of two States, Palestine and Israel, that can coexist in peace, within internationally recognized and secure borders, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions”, he concludes.
