Significant material damage to the only hospital that treats cancer patients in Gaza

The only health center that cares for cancer patients in the Gaza Stripcontrolled by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamassuffered significant material damage this Monday after an Israeli attack.

The director of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, Subhi Sekik, said in a statement that this is the second attack against the center and that it has caused “major damage” that have affected its electromechanical system and endangered the lives of patients.

This center partially stopped working almost two weeks ago due to lack of fuel and electricity and some of its sections such as the Emergency Room were out of service.

For his part, the spokesman for the Gaza Health Ministry, Ashraf al Qudra, said in another statement that there was another attack near the Indonesian Hospital, in the north of the Palestinian enclave, which caused “serious damage” materials.

He highlighted that this attack has also endangered the lives of health personnel, patients and thousands of displaced people who were inside.

According to data provided today by Al Qudra, there are hospitals out of service in the Strip and 25 ambulances have been destroyed. Last week, the Gaza Ministry of Health declared the collapse of the health system in the Strip due to Israeli bombings and the lack of fuel.

This Monday marks the twenty-fourth day of war between Israel and Hamas, started by the attack by Islamists against Israeli territory that left 1,400 dead, more than 5,400 injured and more than 200 kidnapped.

In retaliation, Israel has since bombed Gaza, where since Friday it has expanded its ground operations, causing at least 8,306 deaths and 21,048 injuries.
