The celebrations for Halloween They are one of the most anticipated seasons due to the economic movement that it generates, especially for Round Table merchants, who hope to sell their themed products. However, this year, expectations are uncertain and many fear that they will market only half of their merchandise. According to Román Nazario, vice president of the Mesa Redonda Chamber of Commerce, a 40% drop in sales is expected compared to last year.

Lidia Ramírez (58), a local merchant, points out that even though October 31 is approaching, it doesn’t feel like Halloween because of the few sales she is having in her business.

“The situation is increasingly difficult, people are without budget due to the recession,” he told the Republic team. In that sense, he highlighted that wholesale trade has decreased, and they are selling more products per unit.

Among what the public requests most are children’s costumes, especially those of the character Merlina, which range from S/45 to S/50, depending on the size. Likewise, the Mario Bros costumes are also being popular and their cost ranges from S/28 to S/42. Another popular series is Skibidi, whose costume can be found at S/20.

For her part, Gladys Mancilla (53), another commercial emporium salesperson, said that she expected to obtain more income at this time, but with the reduced sales she hopes to reach only half of last year’s.

“People are saving their savings for Christmas,” he told this medium. Likewise, he indicated that the costs are varied, you can find a package of balloons and decorative pieces for S/15, helium balloons and spider webs can be purchased for S/5, and the La Catrina headbands are also for S/15.
