He armed conflict which takes place between Israel and Hamas has hit the Frankfurt Book Fair (Germany). The event opened its doors this Wednesday to some 6,000 representatives of the media and did so surrounded by controversy.

Already this Tuesday, during the inauguration, the philosopher Slavoj Zizek also addressed the issue between Israel and Hamas. The car condemned the terrorist attacks of Hamas against the Israeli population, but also noted that it is essential to consider the historical background and listen to the Palestinians to better understand the conflict. “There can be no peace in the Middle East without resolving the question of Palestine. The Palestinians are only seen as a problem,” he said in statements reported by the German newspaper Welt.

During Zizek’s speech, some guests left the room in protest. Added to this is another controversy: more than 600 intellectuals have signed a protest letter after the Fair’s decision to postpone without a date the presentation of an award to a Palestinian playwright.
