Gazan authorities fear that, in the coming hours, the most important hospital in the entire Gaza Strip is converted into a large morgue. Since 10 days ago, when Israel decided to begin its attacks, they have been saturated. Wounded people do not stop arriving there, but also many bodies. It is the doctors themselves who tell it: “We have never received such a number of bodies. “I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.”

Bodies pile up inside the building. They can’t even afford to bury them and, on top of that, youAs the UN has warned, there is a lack of bags in Gaza to put the bodies. The majority, as they confess, are civilians.

Almost all children

As are most of the patients they serve. Specifically, children. This same doctor says that many of them arrive alone, after losing their entire family in bombings. They are unable to identify them, so They register them as “Unknown 1”, “Unknown 2″… The last one, “Unknown 101”, is a newborn.

The situation that exists right now in the center is Dantesque. The hospital is not immune to attacks either, but to that we must add the saturation and lack of supplies, that will only keep it operational for a few more days. There is no electricity (they are working with generators that are already about to run out), no water, no food and, of course, no medicine. This means that many injured people are being operated on without anesthesia and others are not operated on at all.. Surgeon Ghassan Abu Sitta says that, today, “there are about 200 people in there who need to be operated on but have not been able to enter the operating room.”

Some of those 200 are doctors. Because Not even the health workers are spared from Israel’s bombs after the Hamas attacks. His own colleagues are the ones who take the injured doctors to this hospital, hoping to save them. They are a priority, because they cannot afford more hands to heal.
