Two Ecuadorians injured in an accident that left more than 50 dead in a truck accident that transported undocumented migrants in Mexico

The vehicle was carrying 150 migrants of different nationalities.

This Friday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador reported that two Ecuadorians were injured in a truck accident that transported migrants of different nationalities in Mexico.

“As a consequence of the accident of a trailer in which migrants of different nationalities were transported, which occurred this Thursday afternoon in Chiapas-Mexico, there are two injured Ecuadorian compatriots,” reads a brief statement issued by the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry.

It specifies that the information comes from the official list issued by the Mexican authorities, “which indicate that there are two Ecuadorians injured and with a reserved prognosis.”

The Ecuadorian nationals injured in the event are 25 and 40 years old, although their identity has not been provided by the authorities.

“All the efforts of our missions in Mexico and of our representatives in Ecuador are concentrated in guaranteeing the medical attention of our compatriots and in contacting their families,” concludes the statement from the Foreign Ministry.

The number of immigrants killed in the accident in which the truck blew up this Thursday on a highway in the state of Chiapas, southeastern Mexico, amounted to 55, according to Mexican government authorities.

The vehicle was carrying 150 migrants of different nationalities.

According to the report of the Mexican State Prosecutor’s Office, the trailer collided with the wall of a pedestrian bridge, after the impact the box was left without the roof and then overturned to one side and as a result of the collision, dozens of migrants died instantly. (I)
