Disney announces fee increases at its parks in California and Florida

The company Walt Disney announced this Wednesday that it has increased the price of some of its park tickets and services in California and Floridaincluding annual passes and parking passes.

The increase with immediate effect affects daily admissions on days of high demand at the Disneyland park, located in Anaheim (California), which increases the 8.4%reaching US$194.

The cost of the Magic Key pass and parking at the California park also increased.

Prices for annual passes at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, increased by 10%except for the Enchant annual pass, which restricts access on certain weekends and holidays, which saw an increase in twenty-one% and now it costs US$849.

The Genie+ service, which allows visitors to access shorter lines, increased its rate by US$5.

However, the company said daily ticket prices in Florida did not increase. This decision comes after attendance at that park decreased in the last quarter.

The increases come three weeks after the business giant announced it plans to invest roughly $60 billion in expanding its theme parks and cruise lines over the next 10 years, nearly double what it spent in the previous decade.

“We are incredibly aware of the financial foundation of the company, the need to continue growing in terms of results, the need to invest wisely to increase the return on invested capital, and to maintain a financial state”Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, said in a statement on September 19.

Disney operates seven of the world’s 10 busiest theme parks, including Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park, which has been the world’s No. 1-attended theme park for decades.
