Argentina hopes to raise US$ 1,050 million in 5G network tender

Argentina expects to raise about US$ 1,050 million in the bidding for the radio spectrum band for technology 5Gofficial sources reported this Wednesday.

Three companies have registered for the bidding process, which have already presented bid guarantees and have been prequalified as bidders.

As reported by the National Communications Entity (ENACOM) of Argentina, the auction of frequency bands for the deployment, development and provision of fifth generation (5G) services will take place on October 24, a process with which expects to raise about US$1,050 million.

The tender will establish the allocation of the frequency band between 3,300 and 3,600 megahertz (MHz) to the land mobile service.

According to official data, Argentina, with 46 million inhabitants, had 59.7 million operational cell phone lines at the end of 2022.

The main communications operators in Argentina are Claro (América Móvil), Movistar (Telefónica) and Personal (Telecom Argentina).
