The supermarket chain costcoone of the largest in the United States, is selling bullion goldand customers take them out of their hands, as acknowledged by its manager Richard Galanti, the chain’s chief financial officer.
The ounce, which is printed with an effigy of what Costco calls “the Swiss goddess of fortune Veriscan” cannot be purchased in stores, but only online, at the modest price of US$1,900 per unit.
They are ounces made in Switzerland and weighing 34 carats, and Costco warns that this product cannot be returned, an exception in the commercial system of large chains.

Customers have shown such interest in the offer – each new shipment is sold within a few hours – that the company has had to limit its purchase to two units per customer, Galanti explained to CNBC.
There is another condition to be able to purchase this unusual supermarket product: it is mandatory to be a member of Costco, a membership that depending on its type can cost between 60 and 120 dollars annually.
The same or similar ounce of Veriscan gold can be purchased online on other sites specialized in precious metals, although at first glance Costco’s offer is the most attractive.
