The cover images are causing a wave of criticism in Greece: a man was pushed on the access ramp from a ferry and thrown into the water. It all started when he man reached the ramp just before the boat left. But the employees did not let him up. He refused to stay on land and tried again. But one of the workers began to struggle with him as the ship began to leave the port of Piraeus in Athens.

The man ended up in the sea. The ship left without any kind of consideration. Some travelers began to rebuke the captain to intervene and he closed the door in his face. No one helped him and Antonis Kariotis, 36, ended up dying drowning in the whirlpool of the ferry’s turbinethe same one that had to take him back home.

The video of the incident went viral on social media and, thanks to this, the port authorities ordered the ferry to turn around. As soon as they reached port, the captain and three other crew members were arrested. They face charges of involuntary manslaughter and violation of Maritime Law, which establishes the legal and moral obligation to help sailors in distress.

The Greek Prime Minister called what happened shameful while members of the Hellenic Government raise the qualifiers to a criminal act. What happened has generated a wave of indignation in the country that has materialized in protests and escraches to the shipping company which, by the way, has been withdrawn from the line that operates in Piraeus.
