In Ecuador, we have gotten used to authorities that do not perform their function to the extent that it seems normal to us and we accept it. There are useful tools for evaluating government performance such as accountability, but we are used to these ranks being a political gathering, where sympathizers, supporters and other people who follow the official “literally” celebrate this rank. and they do not focus on the presentation of the fulfillment of the functions that they perform. Ecuador is a country where politicians engage in charity and that is not a problem, but they do charity instead of work, give food instead of laws and take pictures instead of sitting down to fulfill their functions. To further deepen the crisis, Ecuador’s institutions have lost all credibility, meritocracy no longer exists and it is very easy to appoint or dispose of the services of officials for the convenience of power groups.

The youth of the country demand a change of course, and more than a change, we need a leader with evolution in thinking and the way of ruling, a leader who looks neither left nor right, but goes headfirst towards the interests of the nation. We need rulers who understand that from the provincial director to the general directors are equally important and that the effectiveness of the global system depends on the functions of each of them. If we analyze carefully, the country has a deep crisis in all its axes, for example, we will come to a new legislative period with uncertainty of governance, will there be big shirts? Will there be a new briefcase man?

Today, the government officials who are still in service already agree to be the authorities of the new government, playing their cards and resources on one or the other candidate (with their representatives in the provinces). We also see with fear and sadness that the judiciary, the most critical subject in the functioning of a state, has been taken over. Why don’t they reform the administrative structure of the judiciary? How long will we see so many corrupt judges?

The state has reached an unsustainable level where urgent action is needed in all areas, because not only do we have a crisis in all state management functions, we also have a crisis in health, education and security. The state must understand that it is not the entity that makes the name, but the work, the effort and the one that fulfills the functions for which it was appointed. As Ecuadorians, we demand and hope that the new highest government of this country will try to immediately stop the crises in the assembly and the judiciary, so that both branches of the state can sit down at the table to improve the demands that will make us a safer, more dignified country with a better economy.

I also urge the voters not to allow people who were in the current government, who have no merit, neither academic nor experiential, to return to the commanding institutions. As constituents, we demand meritocracy to achieve efficiency and development. (OR)
